Hi,
I am a passionate Science teacher who thrives on teaching Biology—ironically, my least favorite branch of science. For nine academic years, I’ve been working with middle and high school students, always prioritizing creating a safe haven for them—a place where they can express themselves freely and aren’t afraid to make mistakes. The safer my students feel, the better their chances of becoming lifelong learners who actively seek knowledge, rather than just exam-focused humans who forget everything the moment the test is over.
I like to think of myself as a facilitator of the learning process, not just a walking encyclopedia (trust me, I remind my students of that often). This little mantra encourages them to research, explore, and actually enjoy the process of learning. After all, if you want quick answers, Google’s got you covered—but where’s the fun in that?
I am a Biotechnology graduate with a deep love for all things molecular biology and human DNA. After graduation, I dove into a diploma program on Teaching Adolescent Learners at AUC. Being both a teacher and a student at the same time gave me a whole new perspective on what I’d been doing to my students in class (spoiler alert: I was boring when I first started—don’t judge!).
During the diploma, I learned a lot from fellow teachers and got the chance to experiment with new approaches to pedagogy, technology, and even different types of assessments. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to take things up a notch and start a Master’s in Education from the UK.
While working on my master’s, I had this wild vision of duplicating my class—creating more versions of my little learning haven everywhere I went. This led me to focus my thesis on the impact of professional development for teachers on student achievement. Writing that thesis was a labor of love, and after graduating, I got to put my research into action by training teachers several times.
Now, I’m a super-passionate educator on a mission to inspire more lifelong learners—and maybe to make sure no one else has to endure the boring teacher phase I started with!
As a teacher, I’ve had the chance to lead multiple science fairs, project-based experiences, and green clubs aimed at raising awareness about sustainable development. My students always loved the process of creating experiments or even engineering designs from scratch—sometimes more than the final result itself (but hey, that’s science for you!). I always provide them with guidance and support, while letting them take the lead in making their own decisions—even if those decisions occasionally lead to a mess (that’s where the fun is, right?).
I’ve also had the privilege of leading a science club, where students learn the basics of scientific research and how to design reliable experiments. Whether we’re diving into scientific inquiry, exploring the engineering and design process, or unraveling the mysteries of the digestive system, my classroom is a safe space for making mistakes and learning from them. In fact, we practically celebrate mistakes!
I can't wait to dive into the makers diploma and be a student again!
