Khadija's Maker Journal

About Me

A designer-maker and social entrepreneur who enjoys bringing impact to the design process by making it more collaborative and human-centered. She co-founded Dawayer Design Studio, a design studio that concerns about turning agricultural wastes into functional products.

Before being awarded the full Robin Baker Scholarship to continue her postgraduate studies in the UK, she had enjoyed working as a product design teaching assistant at the German university in Cairo for three years.

Her work has been covered by many publications including Next Design Magazine, Entrepreneur Middle East Magazine, Wamda Online Platform, and Khawater TV Program on MBC Channel. In addition to being selected as a primary candidate for the Fulbright scholarship and a winner of both Sorayah ElSalty and Injaz meet Silicon Valley Scholarship, her team won with the idea of “Dawayer Studio” five national, international and regional competitions and fundraised half a million EGP.

She has a variety of interests; on weekdays she teaches university students how to prototype their objects while on weekends she works as a certified chef in a hotel and might be serving her students their favorite meals.

Khadija holds an MSc in Applied Technologies from Ravensbourne University London and a Bachelor’s in Product Design from the German University in Cairo. By joining the Maker Diploma, She will be qualified to join the FabAcademy and excel in her career.
