In this class students create three dimensional objects ranging from characters, structures and environments. Students learn the basics of "blender" an app that can be used for both 3D animation as well as modeling. Both animations and printed imagery are produced for student portfolios. Students progress from manipulating simple geometric shapes to developing more complex forms using various sculpting features. Students are taught how to add bones to their characters making them posable and ready for animated action! Class time involves demonstrations, viewing case studies, padlet critiques, studio time and creative exploration.
Below you will find examples of what students in the past have created in class. Enjoy.
Mark Salud "UV mapping man"
Max Batchelder "Suzanne's Lobotomy"
One lesson for showcasing student work is to create a "turntable animation." This becomes one of the first animated projects after creating our initial model of a recognizable item.
Merlin Katz created this 3D animated tour of an interior space. Enjoy the trip!
