Junior High School Hip-Hop Dance Off


On March 4, 2024, the Junior High School Department showcased an exhilarating Hip-Hop Dance Contest during the morning assembly at the PISQ-covered court. Grades 7 to 9 took the stage, presenting their best moves in a spirited competition that left the audience in awe.


Ms. Brendalou Abrenica, the Hip-Hop Dance Contest overall chairperson, along with her co-chairperson, Ms. Vilma Suico, steered the event with precision. The PISQ-covered court transformed into a dynamic dance arena as students poured their creativity and energy into their performances.


The contest celebrated not only the rhythmic talents of the participants but also the collaborative spirit within the junior high school community. The morning assembly resonated with the beats of hip-hop, creating a memorable event that showcased the vibrant culture thriving within the PISQ Junior High School department.

Get Active for Sports Day Festivities


On February 13, 2024, Philippine International School – Qatar, celebrated Sports Day with a focus on promoting physical activity and cultural awareness among its students. As part of the festivities, Grade 7 to 10 students participated in a Zumba session and engaged in an Arnis workshop. Facilitated by Ms. Brendalou O. Abrenica and Mr. Joemel Roy P. Torres, Junior High School MAPEH teachers, these workshops were held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the PISQ covered court.

Zumba Session Led by Ms. Abrenica and chosen grade 8 students, the Zumba session provided an exhilarating experience for Grade 7 to 10 students, promoting cardiovascular health and rhythmic coordination. Ms. Abrenica's expertise and encouragement fostered a supportive atmosphere where students felt empowered to embrace physical activity as a fun and rewarding endeavor.

Under the guidance of Mr. Torres, Grades 7 to 10 students delved into the world of Arnis, a traditional Filipino martial art emphasizing weapon-based combat technique. Beginning with an exploration of Arnis' historical and cultural significance, Mr. Torres introduced students to basic strikes, blocks, and footwork using rattan sticks. Through hands-on practice and demonstrations, students gained a deeper understanding of Arnis' principles of discipline, focus, and respect for both oneself and others.
