Materials needed:
Pencils (several)
Colored Pens (several, any colors)
Highlighters (several, any colors)
A set of colored pencils
A folder for each class (could be in a binder or separate)
Dividers labeled for each class if you are using a 3-ring binder
A Comp Book or spiral notebook just for history class
Your charged laptop, provided by the school, or your own laptop
A handheld pencil sharpener
Dear Sixth Grade Students & Parents,
Welcome to Ancient Cultures and Civilizations! Students will expand their understanding of history by studying the people and events that ushered in the dawn of the major Western and non-Western Ancient civilizations. The emphasis is on the lives, problems, and accomplishments of people, as well as their roles in shaping social, economic, and political structures. Furthermore, current events and social justice are an integral part of social science classes at LVUSD.
Units include:
Early Humans and the Rise of Civilizations
Ancient Mesopotamia
Ancient Egypt and the Middle East
Ancient India
Ancient China
Ancient Greece
The Roman Empire
Current Events & Social Justice
Homework: Students will be given short homework assignments or reflection questions a few nights a week. The homework assignments will be written on the board daily and posted in Google Classroom.
