Welcome to Newton Physical Education and Health!

About myself:

This will be my third year teaching! I grew up in Olympia, Washington and went to college at Colorado State University- Pueblo where I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education K-12. I played on the softball team at the university all four years and played softball prior to that for about 15 years. On my days off, I enjoy spending time outside as much as possible with my dog and friends and anything to do with physical activity. I have always been passionate about health and fitness and I am so excited to start my journey here at Newton and I know it will be a great year!

About the class:

This year will be a little different with our new teaching model. I will see you once a week instead of three times a week. Some of the class will also be online. I am now teaching a full 6th grade health class that will be separate from normal PE classes. Class will be a combination of sports and games as well as fitness. We will be outside, inside the gym, or inside the fitness center during our classes. The health portion of this class will be incorporated into our PE days as well as on the online portion of this class. The class syllabus will be attached to this website and any assignments for health or important documents for health.

6th Grade Health

Welcome to 6th grade health! This will be the first year that a class will be provided for 6h graders that fully health based. I am very excited to provide your child the knowledge and information regarding all health topics from Colorado State Standards.

Topics we will be covering will be healthy eating habits, healthy relationships, drugs/alcohol/tobacco, promoting safety and preventing unintentional injuries, and puberty and sexual feelings and safety. These are all research based topics that are required to be taught to the 6th grade level. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the health class or any of the topics being taught.
