School-Based Mental Health Therapist

Korissa Smith is Bluff View's school-based mental health therapist. She provides services for PreK to 6th grade students and their families; such as individual therapy and family therapy.
Sometimes school is hard for kids. Family, friendships and personal concerns can get in the way of doing well at home, school and in the community. At times, everyone could use a helping hand. Early identification and intervention can improve a child’s school adjustment and increase his or her ability to succeed.
Typically Korissa sees students during the school day, but during the summer months she continues to see students in her office and/or in their homes. During the COVID-19 pandemic she continues to see students on platforms such as; telehealth (Zoom) and in the home.
*If I am interested, what is my first step? The first step is to contact Wanda Randgaard (651-345-7103) or Kris Fuglestad (651-345-7018). They will talk about your concerns for your child's mental health. They will help you look at all the school resources and make the referral to FSR with you.
What is School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Services?
It is a partnership with community providers to offer mental health.
Treatment at school sites, less time out of school.
It can provide mental health services to ALL students.
Services are flexible to meet the needs of students and families.
When mental health services are co-located in the school setting, it has shown to improve academic, social, and home functioning.
