Mrs. Ross

Greetings and thank you for visiting my school counseling site!

My name is Alissa Ross and I am so honored to be an Elementary School Counselor with Mankato Area Public Schools. Just as I hope to get to know all of the students, parents and staff I'll be working with, please feel free to get to know me a bit as well. I grew up in a small town in southwest Minnesota. I attended South Dakota State University where I obtained my bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies. After working with at-risk youth for a couple of years after college, I found my passion in school counseling and decided to attend graduate school. I attended Minnesota State University, Mankato for my master's degree in Professional School Counseling. In my leisure time I enjoy running, crafting, thrifting, water sports and spending time with family.

My role as a school counselor can be put simply as a helper and advocate for all students. I believe that all students have strengths and they can be used to their advantage to reach their full potential. I believe all students have differences, and that is a strength to our school community. All students have the capability of leading in one way or another, and I am excited to watch our students grow into responsible, caring, thoughtful, intelligent individuals.
