Welcome to School Year 2022-2023!

As I start year 17 at SCE, I want to tell you what a pleasure it has been to serve our community over the years. I have come to know many of you not just as parents of students, but many of you I call friends. It's a bittersweet year for me knowing this is my last school year before I retire. I will miss so many of you, but I am also looking forward to spending much more time with my family up north, and enjoying my new "snowbird" life.

Lara and I are so anxious to be back in full operation mode this year, and looking forward to adding many family activities to our Parent Involvement Calendar this year, where we get you back in the building! We do have a draft calendar ready and posted, but look for the calendar to be a fluid document this school year. We have some brand new ideas in the works, many based on your feedback, that we are busy working on.

We have appreciated your patience as we changed and adapted to our new normal post Covid. We are trying our best to keep you updated on what is going on at school. One way to stay "in the know" is to keep your best working phone number and email address updated in the Parent BackPack system. That way we can contact you quickly with phone blasts or through SEESAW. If you need any help navigating BackPack or need help in downloading the app or using SEESAW, please let Mrs. Fernicola know so that she can set up a time to work with you, (335-4254). Mrs. Fernicola also uses REMIND as a mode of communication and we still reach out the old fashioned ways of sending home announcements and making personal phone calls and requesting that teacher's put "Title I News" in their newsletters.

Don't forget that we have a Resource Room with a lot of instructional materials that we can provide you to help your child at home. We also have a lot of books that you can check out for your use or if you need books to supplement what your child has to read at home. We have moved our Parent Involvement Room to K0007 in the Kindergarten wing of the building. Please enter through the front office and sign in with your picture ID.

We were fortunate to hold our annual, "What is Title I ?" meeting in person this year, on August 10, 2022. The presentation and the brochure are linked on the bottom of our Title I page for you to view.

We are so blessed to have Mr. Loftis our school Social Worker back with us this year. Please reach out to him if you and your family need any assistance. His contact information is 355-4206 or jtloftis@greenville.k12.sc.us .

Please keep your eye on the SCE Title I page as I update documents throughout the school year. Links to surveys and other important info will be listed directly on the SCE Title I website. Please note our parent involvement calendar on our SCE website.

Please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Fernicola (the Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator) @355-4230 or lfernicola@greenville.k12.sc.us or myself. You can reach me @ 355-4254 or pmccallister@greenville.k12.sc.us . Our contact information is on our Title I page as well.

Sue Cleveland Elementary Title I Information:

We have a school wide Title I program at SCE, where ALL children benefit from Title I funds. You have a right to be involved in your child's education and we invite you to be a part of the yearlong Title I planning process. Please see our online calendar for meetings dates and times. Additionally, information is sent home in weekly teacher newsletters, through classroom SEESAW messages, and advertised on our front marquee. We update all of our Title I documents, on the Title I tab as we work through them during the year long evaluation and planning process.

Please visit our website at:
