This week our main topic for our large group is African American History Month !! This topic is pulled from our curriculum News2You.

A vocabulary quiz will be given to the students on Fridays based on the newspapers four focus words. Practice at home!!

This weeks four focus words are:

• February
• Medal
• Airplane

REMEMBER!!

Fridays are coffee shop days so please make sure your student is at school when the late bell rings so they can be involved in the coffee shop process.

What is the Coffee Shop?

The Coffee Shop is headed by the three self-contained special education teachers (Miss. Atkerson and Ms. Shartzer). Students practice job skills by running the process of their own coffee shop. Each student has a different job to be involved in the coffee shop. No job is to small when everyone works together as a team!! Some students work on measuring cream for the coffee cups, using their communication skills to deliver the coffee, filling orders based on teachers order form, counting the money, etc.. The money raised from the coffee shop will go to future field trips, cooking experiences in the classroom, etc..
