TARDY POLICY
A Tardy consists of any time a student is late for class. A student who arrives late to school or class is
tardy. All teachers will close their doors to begin instruction when the tardy bell rings.
Any student who is tardy to school after 8:45AM must go to the attendance office to obtain a pass. If a
student does not attend at least half of any class, the student will be counted absent.
● Students will be allowed three (3) tardies per quarter. On the 4th and 5th
● Teachers will write a referral on the 6th tardy and any tardy beyond 6. All tardies beyond the 7th
MAY result in suspension from school.
● The following are acceptable as “excused tardy.”
○ Medical appointment (must have a note from doctor)
○ Court appearance (must have a note from court)
○ Late bus (must have a note from the attendance office)
○ A signed agenda from administration, guidance, SRO, or mental health staff.
● The Administration reserves the right to revoke parking passes if tardies become excessive.
TIME OUT OF CLASS POLICY
A time out of class consists of any time missed from a class once class starts for a student initiated reason, except when administratively approved. Time out of class includes student-initiated reasons (bathroom, locker, etc). Students have five minutes between every ninety (90) minute class and lunch to travel to their next destination and visit restrooms or lockers.
Students will be allowed five (5) “time out of class violations” for every class. On the sixth (6th) and seventh (7th) occurrences, the teacher will complete a detention Google form. On the eighth (8th) violation, the teacher will write a referral to an administrator who will assign a final detention. All following violations will result in a referral and a one-day in-school suspension. The “time out of class”
policy resets at the quarter change. At the beginning of the next quarter, all students will once again be allowed five (5) time out of class violations with the same aforementioned consequences.
Examples of administratively approved time out of class include:
● Medical appointment (must have note from doctor)
● Medical exemptions with proper documentation (504s, IEPs, doctor's notes)
● Court appearance (note from court summons)
● Excused early dismissals or excused late arrival to school
● Administrator removal from class
● School Counselor removal from class
● Administrative approved circumstances
