The most powerful lesson an art student can learn is to find and pursue their own art. It is necessary for one to learn to define and refine ideas as they develop their craft skills to engage their viewers. This is necessary to communicate their vision clearly. Through personal examination, confident research, and conscious decision making students are able to express themselves. Creating a challenging but creative and supportive environment I foster conceptual and technical tools they will need to produce, understand, and improve their work to highest level of their ability. The goal of my classes is to give each student the ability to create with confidence and understanding of the visual arts in a critical manner and discussion. Introducing other working artists along with their work helps to expand knowledge and approaches students may not have been familiar with. Broadening their visual art foundation and thought process helps each student expand their efforts to communicate with the world around them. Students are to work independently and in collaborative efforts to accomplish common and individual goals. Advanced classes such as IB are geared towards independent work for personal growth and goals within their framework.
