Teaching reading intervention for kindergarten through third grade brings me great joy and purpose. With 23 years of experience in education, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood and a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy. I am passionate about helping young learners grow into confident, successful readers.
I am honored to be the recipient of the national Winslow Coyne Award for Literacy, which recognizes outstanding contributions to literacy education.
I am a proud member of the Palmetto State Literacy Association, the Greenville County Literacy Association, and The Reading League of South Carolina, where I continue to learn, grow, and stay connected to evidence-based literacy practices.
In addition, I am a Certified Literacy Coach, a Google Certified Educator, a Seesaw Pioneer, and I hold the Read to Succeed Reading Endorsement from the South Carolina Department of Education.
Above all, I believe every child can learn to read with the right support, encouragement, and instruction—and I am committed to partnering with families to help each student reach their fullest potential.
Cory Fortune is my spouse, and we have been happily married for 18 years. Our wedding took place in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We are blessed with two wonderful children, Layla and Liliana. Layla is currently in 10th grade, while Liliana is in 6th grade. Our family also includes two adorable dogs named Ollie and Gus Gus. The girls absolutely adore them, and we spoil them rotten!
