The Grantsburg High School Band was very thankful to have guest composer Michael Oare join us virtually to discuss his piece "Fivefold". This was a rare opportunity to get to meet and work with a living composer on a fun and exciting piece of music.

Mr. Oare worked with the band and gave his own unique perspective on the piece as well as his musical inspiration, compositional process, and a brief synopsis of his career as a music educator and accomplished composer.

You can learn more about Mr. Oare at his website http://www.michaeloare.net

This year, in place of our Holiday Indulgence event, we were able to get a number of holiday tunes prepared with some small groups, the GHS Concert Band, and for the first time since last school year, the GHS Jazz Band. We are happy to still be able to share our music with the community through this digital format.

We are especially grateful for our 3 seniors, Anna Lehne, Anesa Kulmie, and Tyler Java for putting in the extra time to prepare their arrangement of "We Three Kings" for their final GHS Holiday Concert.

Even in the virtual band setting our student musicians have been hard at work developing their skills from home. Students have been recording themselves playing new music in Flipgrid and are able to receive feedback to improve their performance. We're all very excited to hear the pieces come together when we're back in person.
