A bit about Mr. Snoad...

Mr. Snoad enters his 13th year at GLHS and 33rd overall year of teaching . Over the course of his career, he has taught just about every subject in the Social Sciences. Mr. Snoad coached high school football for 32 years, including 23 as a head coach. He is retired from coaching. A Toledo native, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toledo and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton. He is married to Sherri, his wife of 33 years (she is a school nurse in our district) and is the proud father of 3 sons (and 2 daughters-in-law). All his sons are grads of GLHS. He really loves travelling and taking part in various outdoor activities (hiking, biking, fishing, etc.), as well as strength training and fitness! This past summer he and his wife and hiked some serious miles in the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains. He also enjoys most genres of music...his favorite group is the Zac Brown Band and he and his wife have seen them perform over a dozen times.

"Like everyone, I am uncertain what the year will look like for all of us as time passes, but it is still great to start this school year and get to know everyone. Education in your life is as important as ever as you merge into adult life and mainstream society. I am truly looking forward to working with all of you and helping you develop a deeper understanding of the US Constitution, our Bill of Rights, the functioning of government and the challenges we face as a nation in the current volatile political climate. On the verge of this critical presidential election, my main objective is for you to not only understand how our government works, but to actively engage in dialogue, helping them formulate their own political beliefs so you will become active participants in our republic."

Buckle up, because it's going to be an awesome ride!

“Sometimes, it's the very people who no one imagines anything of, that do the things no one can imagine.”

-Alan Turing

“If you tell people where to go, but not how to get there, you’ll be amazed at the results.”

-General George S. Patton

One of my favorite quotes:

“There are only two creatures of value on the face of the earth: those with the commitment, and those who require the commitment of others.”

-John Adams

Think about his words...you either are committed to some thing, some one, some cause...or you are leading and holding others to their commitments. And yes, we all fit into both categories.

So get committed to your education this year...hold yourself to that commitment. Failure is not an option!

What an honor to cross paths with the incredible Congressman John Lewis in 2018. Below is a photo taken when my wife and I were in Atlanta and we happened to be passing by him at the airport. I immediately said, "Congressman Lewis!" He was so kind and humble. He asked who we were, what we do and thanked us for being in education. When I thanked him for all he had done for this country, his response was, as you can expect..."Oh well I just make a little good trouble now and then." I will remember and cherish that moment as long as I live.
