October Meets
October Meets
Our October Meets are upon us. A little over 300 of our swimmers head to Ensworth this weekend to compete in the October Open. If you have any questions regarding the meet you can always find the Cheat Sheet link located on the meet graphic and there you will find everything that you need. For this particular meet, there have been a couple of revisions to some documents (particularly the timelines) so please check regularly.
Then only one week later, we have about 100 more swimmers competing in two different meets: McCallie/GPS in Chattanooga and the Chattahoochee Gold meet near Atlanta. Both of these meets are great opportunities to swim against fast competition from outside our immediate area.

Any family that has been with us for even one season will know that we love to use USA Swimming's Virtual Club Rankings as a way to track our progress within the Southeastern Conference but also against our competition on the national level. However, due to the new registration system at USA Swimming, they are unable to produce those rankings at this moment. Thankfully, we have another place to look at in the meantime.
SwimCloud.com is a website that ranks swim teams, both as a whole team and by age groups. Once on there, you can filter the rankings by gender and age group, and even by event. As you can see, Excel Aquatics is doing very well! However, as a cautionary note, HSA hasn't yet swum a full meet and we expect that when they do, they will be challenging us in a few categories.

Every year during October, Excel Aquatics takes a terrifying tour of the haunted woods at Miller's Thrillers. The 45 minutes walk through the private farmland near Spring Hill never ceases to deliver. This year, we will be meeting at Miller Thrillers at 8:00pm on Friday, October 21st. No need to sign up through us, simply buy your own tickets here . Make sure you buy the Haunted Woods Tour with Slash Pass. Doing so will save you potentially 2 hours of wait time. All swimmers who are 13 and over, and any friends and family, are welcome to join us. See you there!

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members.
