2022 Masters Nationals
2022 Masters Nationals
This past week, two of our coaches headed out to San Antonio, Texas for the 2022 United States Masters Swimming Spring Championships. This national level meet draws swimmers aged 18 to 100+ compete over the course of four days in one of the most competitive, but fun, environments in the country
Coaches Bink and Jack were amongst the 2,000 swimmers at this meet and had some great swims, including lifetime bests. Highlights for Bink were his 4:58.72 in the 500 which earned him 7th in the country and his 2:03.00 in the 200 fly which was 5th. Coach Jack swam a 56.45 100 Back and a 1:05.00 100 Breast, all of which were top 20 in the country.
Another highlight for both was connecting with Excel Aquatics alum Montse Spielmann who has relocated to San Antonio.
Many times swimmers can see Coach Jack and Coach Bink at our very own ISC getting workouts and practices in before their time on deck coaching, so it is so great to see all of their hard work pay off at this meet.
We are so proud of Coach Bink and Coach Jack for all the hard work that they put in to coaching our athletes, but also coaching each other in their own swimming pursuits!

Excel's class of 2022 and their families gathered on Wednesday night to celebrate the careers of our graduating swimmers. As Excel Aquatics has a long history of developing our talent through the age group team, many of these athletes have been a part of Excel for a majority of their lives. While they have all represented Excel well in the pool, they are all about to do the same as alums in the next stage of their lives. A special Congratulations goes out to our 10 Seniors who will be continuing their swimming at the collegiate level next fall. Congrats to you and your families!

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members. New Team Member Orientation
If you are new to the Excel family, or still have questions about our weird and wonderful sport, then you should plan to attend the upcoming orientation meeting. General questions about meet entries, billing, and accounts will be covered. Specific questions regarding your swimmer's training and/or progress WILL NOT covered. The meeting will be held at the Brentwood ISC on May 12, 2022 from 5:30-6:15pm.
Swim Instructors Needed
Swim Instructors Needed
We are looking for summer swim instructors to work with our swim school. It's a great way to help teach an important life skill, introduce new swimmers into the Excel Family, and even earn extra summer cash. If you are age 15 or older, have experience with all four competitive strokes, and want to train the next generation of Excel swimmers then this is the perfect opportunity for you. If you are a Senior swimmer with Excel, we are happy to work around your practice/meet schedule and in most cases your summer travel. Interested candidates should contact the Swim School Director at your site, listed below.

Death Valley Open Water Swim
Death Valley Open Water Swim
The 2022 Death Valley Open water race will be on Saturday, June 4th in Clemson SC. This is a rare opportunity to race open water in preparation to sending athletes to Open Water Nationals in 2023. Like last year, we will also tag on a white water rafting trip in Ocoee, TN on Friday June 3rd. This will be a 3 hour afternoon trip that is open to all swimmers and their families (12 and older) and the cost is $45/person. All costs will be charged to your Excel account. Note- The Southeastern LSC has decided to not send a team to Open Water Zones so this opportunity becomes even more important.
