To prepare "lives that will go out from the classroom, reach out to the community, and stand out in the world," Enrichment Reading challenges students to curate their own reading list based on personal interests and from award winners and book lists from around the globe.
Your summer challenge is to read a minimum of 250 pages from one book or many! You can always check the Gill Library Catalog to see what we have available or head straight to Sora to check out our digital collections (instructions). If you cannot find what you're looking for, don't forget to check out your local public library.
Looking for your Required Reading for this summer? Head to ESD's Summer Reading 2025 page.
NoveList Plus is a library database that serves as a readers' advisory for fiction and nonfiction books. It's a great resource for finding "what to read next" and read-alikes!
Log in to NoveList Plus . You will need to get the EBSCO database password to access NoveList Plus from home.
Find the “Curated Lists” located on the left side of the home page and browse for ideas.
Or, find "Discover NoveList" on the left side of the home page to browse story elements such as genre, themes, or appeal factors.
Read for fun. Satisfy your own interests and curiosities.
If you are not liking what you're reading, STOP, and select something else.
Reading is more than a novel. Explore. Try something new. Consider articles, short stories, blogs, nonfiction, or a books outside your usual genre. Audiobooks count too!
Read with a friend! Share what you read over a great meal.
Consider starting a book journal to track your reading. Maybe try sketchnoting or a bullet journal? Click here for the English Department's recommended annotations guide.
Parents, we encourage you to recommend books you love that fit your student's theme as well and read along with your child!
