Ms. Grant

Welcome to Third Grade!

All About Ms. Grant

I AM THRILLED TO BE TEACHING THIRD GRADE AT FOREST TRAIL!

I moved back to Austin in 2022 and am so happy to be here.  I have lived all over the country, but Texas is my favorite place.  I have a daughter, Hannah Rose, who just graduated from the University of Southern California, a son, Mason, who will be a Sophomore at Boston College, and a son, Hanson, who will be in Seventh Grade at West Ridge.  My kids and my two silly dogs keep my life fun and busy.  In my free time, I enjoy going for walks, reading, cooking, catching up with friends, trying new restaurants, and traveling.

I have 13 years of experience in the elementary school classroom.  I taught First Grade for 8 years, Second Grade for 2 years, EC Resource, and Third Grade for 2 years. I have also taught two years at the college level in Reading and Math courses.  I thoroughly enjoy teaching and working with students of all ages and abilities.

I have an elementary education degree from Auburn University. WAR EAGLE! My Masters in Literacy is from Concordia University.  I have received countless hours of training and use these skills when working with students of all abilities.  It is important to me that each student feel important, special, and validated in my classroom to work to their fullest potential.  I am determined to find the best way to meet the needs of each student that I work with in each subject area.

Every student must be motivated to develop their critical thinking skills through whole, small group, and individual instruction.  I include hands-on instruction that can accommodate  all types of learners: visual, tactile, and auditory.  I like the students to have fun and provide projects/experiences that help students learn from a new perspective.  I am dedicated to encourage each student on a daily basis as they learn in my classroom and will go above and beyond to guarantee their success in and outside of the classroom.  I will work with parents to promote self-confidence, strategies to use at home, and a love of learning at school as well as at home.

Teaching is my passion and I am so excited to share this love of learning with my new students and their families!
