3rd Grade Collaborative Teacher

Hello!  Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  I am excited to begin another year at Forest Trail!   In 2018, I filled an open teacher's assistant  position and quickly found that FTE felt like home!  Giving a bit of my background, it's important to know that working in special education has been a passion of mine since college.  I attended Texas State (SWT) where I graduated with a BS in Education specializing in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, and Special Education.  My teaching career began in London, England where I completed student teaching in the lower elementary grades.  When back in Texas, I started at Mina Elementary in Bastrop and then I moved on to Chisholm Trail Middle School, in Round Rock.  After seven years, I was given a rewarding opportunity to stay home with my children throughout their early elementary school years.  Returning to the field of education was a positive decision as I accepted a sixth grade teaching position at Regents School of Austin.  

After many years there, I took a short break, but I couldn't stay away from education long!  Happy to be at Forest Trail, I have worked in special education along side my general education cohorts for 5 years!  Working with 5th graders in the past has helped me see where our 3rd graders are headed.  

Traveling is one of my most enjoyable things to do with my favorite people, Emma and Noah!  (My kids!)  Our most recent trips were taken to New York City, London, Barcelona and Cancun to swim with the Whale Sharks!  This summer, I travelled to Rome, Florence, Athens, Santorini, and Ios!  My favorite part was to be close to the water where we took a catamaran to adventure around the island of Santorini to sail and swim in the Mediterranean for the day!

I love children and teaching!  Being flexible, open to new ideas, and deeply caring about what is best for the student are a few of my strengths.  It is a privilege to be a part of your child's education and I look forward to meeting you and your family!
