Research Interests
My research program includes synthetic inorganic and organic chemistry, biological chemistry to address important metal-mediated processes relevant to medicinal problems and fundamental inorganic chemistry problems. Novel molecular design, strategies are being used to synthesize and characterize new organic molecules and inorganic complexes, with the ultimate goal to help unsolved problems with broad implications to our society. Different research projects are pursued to attract students with different research interests and to provide them with a good training for their future chemistry careers. This includes development of a series of Cu complex with homo- and heteroleptic trimethoxy terpyridine, and other newly designed ligands for various cancer treatment. Research on detailed characterization, DNA/BSA Binding, DNA Cleavage and cytotoxicity is being carried out. We have also developed a series of Ru complexes that are showing good anticancer potential. In addition, we are developing a good library of multifunctional compounds and exploring them for their effect on amyloidogenic diseases like Alzheimer’s disease etc.
