Mrs. Guay's ELA Class

Welcome Students!

Welcome to the sixth grade at Bailey Middle School! We will be learning English Language Arts (ELA) together. In ELA class, we will concentrate on growing our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills by working with literature, informational texts, short stories, poetry and more. We will sharpen our language skills by studying vocabulary, grammar, and research techniques. So exciting!

Did you know that learning is not a spectator sport? You have to jump in and participate! This year you will learn to develop grit. Grit is the combination of passion and perseverance that will allow you to meet any academic challenge. I know you have the potential and ability to achieve great things in ELA. Your attitude makes all the different -- your amazing year begins today!

Meet Mrs. Guay:

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts; have been married to a wonderful man for the last 36 years; and am the mother of two grown children (and one amazing grandson). Education has always been a major force in my life. I received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Bentley University. After spending a number of years working in the high-tech industry, I returned to graduate school and obtained my Masters of Arts in Teaching from East Carolina University. I have spent the past nine years teaching sixth grade. It is my fourth year at Bailey Middle School as a member of the sixth grade team. I look forward to working with you all.
