Election Info
On October 25, 2023, BLA's 7th grade will elect its two Student Council representatives for the 2023-24 school year. The students who are elected will be representing their grade level classes throughout this year. The Student Council is an elected group of student representatives who hear your opinions and bring them to school leadership, and will also help to plan events for the school throughout the year. You will be able to read the candidates' platforms in the Meet Your Grade 7 Candidates section of this site. Please be an informed voter and read your grade level candidates' positions before making your choices!
How do I become a candidate?
1. Attend our informational meeting on Thursday, 10/5 in Room 217 from 1:50-2:30 if you can. (See the bottom of this page for the Slides presented at the meeting.)

If you have any trouble submitting the profile and platform via the form above, you may submit by email to BOTH Ms. Walia swalia@bostonpublicschools.org and Ms. Quackenbush kquackenbush@bostonpublicschools.org. Be sure all sharing settings are edited to "anyone with the link can view."
4. Wait for an approval email from Ms. Walia or Ms. Quackenbush by 10/17, and then once you get the approval, begin your campaign on Wednesday, 10/18 (no earlier)!
When are elections?
Elections will be held on Wednesday, October 25. Polls will be open (electronically) from 7:10am until 2:30pm on that day, and we will announce the winners on Thursday. You are invited to vote using a computer or your phone to vote during any appropriate time. Appropriate times include: before the start of homeroom, during a study hall in the library, during a study hall or during lunch when phone use is permitted, and after school.
How will I vote?
You will receive an email in your BPS email account inviting you to fill out the Google Form ballot. The form will be tied to your email address and thus will only allow you to vote once. You must be able to log into your BPS Google account in order to vote. If you click on the link on your phone and it says you do not have permission, you must log into your BPS email in your phone browser (as in, the Chrome or Safari app) and then try clicking the link again. You will select your choices and click "submit" in order to cast your vote.
Who should I vote for?
You should make an informed choice for yourself! The choices for each grade are visible on the Student Council website, linked at the beginning of this email. Read the candidates' platforms and make a choice based on who you think will best serve your interests as a BLA student.
The candidates are excited to begin serving as your representatives! Once the results are in, be sure to get to know the elected representatives for your grade level, and express your ideas and opinions to them. We also hold monthly school-wide meetings. Leading up to election day, please feel free to see Ms. Walia in Room B-12 or Ms. Quackenbush in Room 217 with questions.
