Spalding Phonogram App for targeted Phonogram practice

Parent Letter - App Practice at Home.pdf

PHONOGRAMS:

In first grade our goal is to master all 70 phonograms. As the students learn the phonograms, they will see them in the spelling words, which helps them to become more fluent readers. It's amazing how it all comes together! This app is particularly helpful. You can use the directions on the parent letter here to use the app to practice phonograms for the week.

Here are some pictures of what Spelling and Phonogram homework should look like:

Monday - Wednesday the phonograms are written once in class and 2 more times at home. Generally, they won't have phonograms on the back on Thursday.

Monday - Wednesday the spelling words of the day are written 2 times. On Thursday, the students write the words missed one time.

Have you wondered what the rules are all about that we write in our Spelling Notebook? Here is a simplified list of all 29 rules that the students learn. We focus on about half of them in first grade.
