Facebook Connect Configuration

If you are using a custom domain for your Yonkly site then you need to setup Facebook to enable Facebook Connect on your site.  Facebook Connect is a very powerful feature that will enable you and your users to invite your Facebook friends which could increase your user base very rapidly.  It will also enable your users to login and signup using their Facebook account, so they will not have to remember another password, plus they will be able to invite their friends and so on.

IMPORTANT: You only need to do this if you are using a custom domain

Here are the steps needed to setup Facebook Connect:
  1. Create a new Facebook application - go to http://www.facebook.com/developers/apps.php
  2. Click on Setup New Application
  3. Enter the following information
    1.  Application Name =  "My Own Site" (whatever you want to call your application)
    2. Callback URL = "http://yourdomain.com/facebook/callback" (replace yourdomain.com with your web site address.
    3. Base Domain = "yourdomain.com" (without the www) (tip: this setting is located under the "Connect" tab)
  4. Optional: upload your own logo and icon to customize the experience for your users
  5. Click Save Changes
  6. Note the API Key and Secret on the application page.
  7. Log into your Yonkly site > Click Admin > Click Settings
  8. Check Enable Facebook Connect check box
  9. Enter The API Key and Secret (from step #6) in the appropriate boxes
  10. Save your settings
To test if everything is working, click on the Invite link on the top navigation bar and you should see a Facebook icon.  Click the Facebook icon and you should see the Facebook invite page where you can invite your friends to join your site.

IMPORTANT: This only works if you are visiting your site through your own domain e.g. mydomain.com and NOT through mydomain.yonkly.com
