Rachel Carson 「Silent Spring（沈黙の春）」輪読会
3年目に入りますが引き続きレイチェル・カーソルの「沈黙の春」を輪読します。章ごとに独立した内容ですから、いつでも途中参加が可能です。月2回程度、日曜日の午前中に開催します。（朝野先生）
「Silent Spring」は放送大学科目「社会の中の科学」・放送大学大学院科目「物質環境科学Ⅱ」でも紹介されています。

米国の生物学者・Rachel Carson(1907-1964)は化学物質の大量使用とその生態系への影響を系統的に調査し、殺虫剤などとして散布されていた 農薬（DDTなど）が自然界に蓄積し、動植物や人間に深刻な影響を与えかねないことを、1962年に著書『Silent Spring』で指摘した。ケネディー大統領の環境政策にも、影響を与えた。
Silent Spring [A Fable for Tomorrow]
There was once a town in the heart of America where all life seemed to live in harmony with its surroundings. The town lay in the midst of a checkerboard of prosperous farms, with the fields of grain and hillsides of orchards where, in spring，white clouds of bloom drifted above the green fields．In autumn，oak and maple and birch set up a blaze of color that flamed and flickered across a backdrop of pines．Then foxes barked in the hills and deer silently crossed the fields, half hidden in the mists of the autumn mornings.・・・・・・
アメリカのまんなかにむかし一つの町があった。その町ではすべての生き物が環境と調和のとれた生き方をしているように見えた。その町は碁盤の目のように広がる豊かな農園の中央に位置していた。穀物畑があり、その先の丘の中腹には果樹園があった。そこでは春には緑の野原のかなたに白い花のかすみが漂っていた。秋にはコナラやカエデやカバの木の葉が赤く色づき松の緑を背景にして揺れていた。そのとき狐たちが丘で吠え、鹿は秋の朝のもやの中を見え隠れしながら静かに野原を横切って行きました。・・・・
