Democratic Party Board Elections? Clarification on the Status of 2008 County
Convention Delegates As Potential WCDP County Central Committee Voting
Members
In order to make sure that delegates who were elected to the Washoe
County Democratic Party County Central Committee (WCDP CC) at the 2008 County
Convention can be added to the 2009 WCDP CC list and vote in the board elections
April 7th, the board has adopted the guidelines listed below for determining
membership.
These guidelines were voted upon after some individuals
submitted inquiries about their absence from the WCDP CC list. After inquiry it
became apparent that some seated delegates at the County Convention who had
checked a box on their presidential preference cards indicating their desire to
become elected to the WCDP CC were not on the official list. These individuals,
as well as any alternates who became delegates and had also checked the box,
were subsequently voted in as Central Committee members at the County
Convention; however, some names did not get added to the official 2009 WCDP CC
list.
The following guidelines are intended to address that omission
and to clarify how a delegate may be added to the WCDP CC list, who can vote,
and how such eligibility to vote will be communicated to WCDP CC
members.
- The current WCDP Central Committee list in the
secretary's possession, as added from the NGP list, is a valid list of CC
members
- Per our bylaws (Art. VI, Sec. 2), all elected public office
holders that are registered Democrats residing in Washoe County are valid WCDP
CC members and are eligible to vote in the board elections
- All 2008 county convention delegates that sign, on or before
April 7, 2009, a declaration attesting that they checked the box on the
presidential preference card at said county convention that indicated they
wanted to join the WCDP and deposited it as directed, shall be considered valid
WCDP CC members
- Those persons meeting at least one of the above described
qualifications shall be allowed to vote in the officer elections on April 7,
2009
