Rory's Crossroads: New Future for Nevada Economic Development

Last Wednesday, Rory Reid announced his intention to run for governor and released "The Virtual Crossroads," his 30-page-long blueprint for Nevada's development. The compact yet informative booklet is full of original and unorthodox proposals for changing Nevada's image. Proposals include developing clean energy resources and turning Nevada into a technology hub, as well as a major logistics center.

To read the Crossroads online, go here - or pick up a copy at the Washoe County Democratic Party Headquarters at 1465 Terminal Way.

Kathleen Eagan Named New WCDP Secretary

Kathleen Eagan has been appointed Secretary of the WCDP Executive Board, effective immediately, announced Chair Chip Evans.
"I am truly enthused to be part of the leadership team during this growth period of our party," said Eagan. "This is such a wonderful opportunity to help increase our local influence with a multitude of qualified candidates in the pipeline for city, county and state elections."

Eagan has been an active volunteer in the WCDP as a Nevada caucus chair and delegate to the county and state conventions. She was a multi-precinct coordinator for the Obama/Biden campaign, and an assembly district volunteer for Organizing for America. She has contributed countless hours in door-to-door canvassing and phone banking for candidates and issues.

She was also a precinct coordinator for the Kerry/Edwards campaign, and was active in Spread Peace Reno's efforts in feeding the homeless.

Eagan has a long history of other volunteer activities in five states. She was a county board member for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and a community liaison appointee board member for the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, the women's prison in Oregon. She has been a parent advocate trainer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and a board member for the Oregon Health and Sciences University's Children's Psychiatric Day Treatment Center.

She has been vice president of client services for a private investment firm. She graduated from Humboldt State University, Summa Cum Laude, with a bachelor's degree in social science and a secondary teaching degree.

Eagan and her husband Scott have five children, including two adopted from Russia.

"We are thrilled to have Kathleen join us, and we look forward to working with her on the important job of building our party," said Evans.
