Volunteer Recognition Night in the "New Blue Reno": Two reasons to celebrate! First, check out this quote from John Ralston's blog posting, "10 reasons Nevada could go blue," June 6th, 2008: "No. 7, the biggest little Democratic stronghold: Reno, in the heart of Republican Washoe County, has turned Democratic and could be central to the party's fortunes this cycle. If someone can persuade Obama to spend some time in the urban north, where the potential for crossover votes is great, he could do what only Reid has done with regularity as a Democratic candidate: Mitigate loses in the North to eke out a win."
Yup, it's true: voter registration statistics for the city of Reno verify a Democratic advantage - Reno is now blue territory. Thanks to Jessica Sferrazza for pointing me to the reference. Reason enough to celebrate, but wait...
Second, We're having a party! Next month's county central committee meeting will be a Volunteer Recognition Night. For all you folks who put in time for us over the past several months, for the county or state convention, in your neighborhood, on a committee, or for the caucus, this one's for US. Let's get together with our fellow Dems-in-arms and celebrate our accomplishments, our camaraderie, unity - and the coming victories in November.
