This workshop explored the challenges associated with e-portfolio-based assessment, and ways to generate approaches that could work in participants’ institutional contexts. Workshop attendees were actively involved in developing plans for hypothetical e-portfolios for their own campuses. They examined the emerging challenges, such as identifying assessment goals and audiences for assessment, and the e-portfolio creation process. Also discussed were the mechanisms for generating useful assessment data from e-portfolios, including embedded assessment, automated counts, rubric creation and scoring, and global and integrative assessments.
