Since fall 2007, WASC visiting teams have been pilot-testing a set of four
rubrics to guide their evaluation of campus Educational Effectiveness efforts.
As appropriate, the team applies the rubrics to examine a campus's 1) student
learning outcomes, 2) use of portfolios, 3) use of capstones, and 4) integration
of student learning into program review. Increasingly, though, campuses are taking
the initiative and using the rubrics to benchmark and improve their own practice,
quite apart from visits. Participants in this session reviewed the latest versions
of the rubrics, learned about their development as best practices indicators, and considered
what teams will look for when visiting their campuses.
