A fundamental change has occurred in the nature of America’s academic workforce. It threatens to separate colleges and universities into two very different classes of workers. The panelists discussed the key issues related to the professoriate and what might be done to retain some sense of a common “profession” across all institutional types and categories of academics. Presenters: William M. Plater, Executive Vice Chancellor & Dean of the Faculties Emeritus, Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis; Judith M. Gappa, Professor Emerita, Purdue University; Jack H. Schuster, Professor of Education and Public Policy, Claremont Graduate University; Jackie Donath, WASC Commissioner and Professor of Religion, Sacramento State University Handouts and the slides can be downloaded below.
