WASC has just completed revisions to
the Standards for Accreditation, changes in the visit process, and a
comprehensive external review. The plan
now is to engage the region over the next 18 months in discussions about the
longer-term future of WASC Standards and processes. This session highlighted the
impact of recent changes on institutions and raised questions about future
changes. For example, should WASC retain the three-stage model? What
adaptations or new approaches could we consider? How can WASC help institutions to move to
“the next level” of effectiveness? What
key performance indicators should WASC institutions attend to? And how can they
best address calls for greater accountability, transparency, and improvement in
