Principal's Message

Thank you for visiting our website!

Founded in 1934, VTT is proud to be one of the largest Jewish day schools in Western Canada, serving a population of close to 500 students from preschool to grade seven. As a traditional community Jewish day school, we are dedicated to producing well rounded, well prepared and spiritually grounded students who have the ability to embrace the world with a commitment to Judaism. At VTT, we offer a thoughtful balance of general and Judaic studies designed to excite, inspire and challenge each child.

For those of you who would like to learn more about our school, I encourage you to use this website as a multi-faceted invitation to view the many wonderful aspects of what our school has to offer. You will find us at the leading edge of programs, resources and technology designed to accommodate the diversity of learners that enter our doors. Every member of our VTT community is essential to the life of our school, and is wholly respected regardless of religious practice. Students, staff, parents, board members and alumni generate the warmth and feeling of chavurah that defines the Vancouver Talmud Torah.

We are proud of our provincially recognized academic ranking, but this is only part of the equation which makes VTT stand tall. As a Jewish day school, we offer a safe and nurturing foundation that encourages a lifelong love of learning, both in general and Judaic studies. We promote the joyous celebration of Jewish identity, heritage and practices. We teach Tikkun Olam [repair of the world] and derech eretz [acting with care and respect].

Underlying it all, at VTT you will find a tremendous commitment to relationships and community. We support our students as they grow into successful, connected, ethical young people ready for whatever challenges the world presents.
