WELCOME FROM THE PPP

We are excited to welcome new and returning families to Vancouver Talmud Torah. We hope that you and your children had a wonderful summer and will have a fulfilling experience here at our school.

What is the PPP?

      The PPP is the
Parent Participation Program. The PPP organizes parent volunteers for activities in our school which complement the academic, cultural and social curriculum.   Parent/guardian volunteering in the school benefits our children and their teachers. The PPP is also responsible for the holiday preparations for both the in class activities and the small gifts that your children receive on some holidays. The PPP was established to ensure that each family becomes involved in the school in some volunteer capacity. Most likely you recall having provided a $300 cheque to VTT for the PPP (Parent Participation Program) at the time of your 2009-2010 registration. This cheque will be cashed at the end of the school year in the event that you do not fulfill your volunteer hours.

How many hours of volunteer do I need to complete?

Each family must complete a minimum of 12 volunteer hours.  The hours can be completed by parents, grandparents, nannies, etc.  There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. Preparing for Jewish holidays, going on class trips, baking and fundraising are just a few examples of how families volunteer at VTT.   Feel free to do more than the minimum 12 hours!

How do I track my completed hours?

We use an online system to log all PPP hours.  Simply follow the link found on the VTT website www.talmudtorah.com to the PPP section.  EVERYONE must log their hours, if your hours are not logged your cheque will be cashed.  This includes staff and board members who are also parents.

How can I get involved?

We welcome your comments and suggestions and look forward to seeing anyone who is interested at any of our meetings.  You are welcome even if you are only interested to know what is going on. All PPP meetings are open to the entire parent body and are not limited to grade and class reps.  The more people who attend the meetings, the more well-rounded our planning will be.

Where do I sign up?

The majority of volunteer sign-up takes place online.  Simply follow the link found on the VTT website www.talmudtorah.com  to the PPP page. Please take the time to look at all the committees available and try to sign up for at least one committee, holiday planning group, or fundraising activity. The PPP (which now includes the Ruach committee) are committed to finding the best fit for your volunteer hours. Please sign up as soon as possible so we can get off to an organized start to our school year. Keep in mind that while many opportunities come up as the year goes on, it is crucial to the operations of our school that we have a committed parent body, and that all the positions are filled.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year and look forward to getting to know as many new faces as possible.

VTT's programming and our kids' experiences will be greatly enriched with your support.

Thank you. Todah Rabah.

PPP Co-Chairs,

Leana Gaerber and Marnie Greenwald
