The
LAC program supports students either in the classroom or in a pull-out program
in three clusters: Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grades 4 & 5 and Grades 6 &
7. Depending on the circumstances, students may receive individualized
attention or work in small groups.
At the primary level, the goal is to have all the children reading on their own to the best of their ability given their different learning styles. One way to assess students at-risk of reading difficulties is through phonological awareness screenings in kindergarten. Identified students are then referred for in-house remediation to improve their skills. At all times the goal is to keep the child’s self-esteem intact.
