Athletics & Intramurals

Athletics at our school plays an integral part in the overall development of the Talmud Torah student.  Three times a week, children in Grades 1 through 7 come to the gym where they learn many different skills.  Through the various sporting units, children learn not only athletic skills, but life skills as well.  In a fun, safe, and supportive environment, children learn the importance of teamwork, effort, sportsmanship, leadership, and having the right attitude.  These skills ultimately transcend playing fields and gymnasiums to help the Talmud Torah student succeed in all areas of life.

Intramurals

Starting in Kindergarten, Talmud Torah students are placed on one of the four house teams, David, Devorah, Moshe or Esther.  This is the team that the student will be on for the next eight years. Then, once the student reaches Grade 3 and proceeding through to Grade 7, s/he has the opportunity to come to the gym to play a designated intramural sport.  Every Monday through Thursday at lunch, students play floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. During each sport, standings are kept, points are tallied, and at the end of the playoffs, a trophy is awarded to the victorious team.  All students are encouraged and welcome to play regardless of skill level.  The only requirement is a strong desire to play.
