Terrilyn Maise K-B Teacher tmaise@vol.org (504) 347-3377 ext. 27
My name is Mrs. Terrilyn Maise, and I am very excited to work with you and your children this year!!! This is actually my first full year teaching and I feel that Visitation is such a wonderful place to start!! To get better acquainted, I will tell you a little about myself and my beliefs. I married my high-school sweetheart (Glenn) this past January. We also have a little English bulldog named Bella which we love very much!! I recently graduated form the University of New Orleans with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While I was in school I worked part-time as a Pre-K assistant at Wee Care For Kids daycare facility for four years. From that experience alone, I realized that I wanted to teach children between the ages of five and six which is KINDERGARTEN!! I feel that the energy and enthusiasm that five and six year olds have for learning about the world around them is amazing and it's very fulfilling to see the “aw” on their faces and they realize their own capabilities. I do believe that I have the most rewarding job that one could ever hope to have. As your child's new Kindergarten teacher, I take my role in helping him or her develop good learning skills along with a loving and giving character very seriously. It is in these early years that we learn to share, play, care, forgive, and understand and we do it by interacting with our peers every minute of each day. It is my goal to provide your son or daughter with a nurturing, welcoming, and rewarding environment in which they can learn that it is okay to hit a “bump in the road” and that there is always someone there to watch over them and encourage them to keep on trying. So, you can always know that as you give that last hug of the morning to your little one that he or she will be greeted with yet another as they enter the door of our classroom!!:) Mrs. Maureen, our KB assistant, and I are very excited about this year. I know we will have a great school year!!!!! " Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression." (Haim Ginott)
