Welcome to Kindergarten from Mrs.
Shelley Moore
I graduated from UNO in 1993 with
a BA in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education. I have
been teaching for 16 years. I taught 1st grade my very first year
and have taught Kindergarten ever since, for 15 years.
Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach. The children love
learning and they are becoming so independent at this age. I love
the way their eyes light up when they discover something new. I
love using hands on materials to extend concepts. Children learn
in so many ways through all of thier senses, and I love finding ways to
use all of their senses to help them learn.
I have been married for 5
1/2 years to my wonderful husband David Moore and we have a black kitty named Midnight and a baby Moore on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite thing to teach is
religion. In KA, we send Jesus and Mary home with each
child. Jesus goes home before Christmas and Mary goes home after
Christmas. The children journal about what Jesus and Mary do when
they are with them and they read stories from the children's
bibles.
In KA, we learn about several
science units throughout our year. We learn about our 5 senses,
space, under the sea, creepy crawlers, holidays, farm, and
weather. I am so happy to be teaching at
Visitation of Our Lady school. This is a special place to work
and learn. Mrs. Colleene, our KA assistant, and I are so excited about
this
year. I know we will have a wonderful year together!
