Objective: To provide students with the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to become an accomplished performer with the tools of mathematics.
Grading Scale:
Grading- Nine weeks grade will be determined from: Chapter Tests Quizzes (will be sent home with fractional score instead of percentage) Homework Classwork
Discipline- Classroom Rules 1. Respect Others and Yourself 2. Follow Directions 3. Come to class prepared 4. Complete all assignments 5. Be an “Active Learner” Consequences 1st offense- warning 2nd offense- 2 point reduction from conduct grade. 3rd offense- additional 2 point reduction from conduct grade. 4th offense- Demerit. 5th offense- conference with teacher after class. Severe Disruption- Automatic demerit or referral to the office.
Procedures: 1. Students will enter the class quietly. 2. Take out homework, signed tests, and notes3. Copy homework in agenda 4. Raise your hand to speak 5. Stay focused on the lesson 6. Ask questions if you become confused 7. Take notes correctly in notebook
Homework: Students lose 5pts per missed assignment and 3pts for incomplete work. Written homework is given every night. Excessive missed assignments will not be tolerated. Procedure notices will be issued if a homework assignment is missed. After three missed homework assignments, you will receive a demerit and a homework average of 85%. Students are not allowed to go to their lockers if homework is forgotten.
Materials: Spiral graph paper notebookPencils and red pen All students are expected to have supplies and textbooks each day for class. This is implied daily homework. Homework points will be lost if materials are missing from class. Students are not allowed to write with ink pen for math. Students should not ask to go to the restroom during instruction. It is important that each person be attentive during the lesson. Restroom privileges are given during independent work time.
Extra Credit: Students may do the “Real World Snap-shots” page at the end of each chapter in order to earn extra points. Extra work must be turned in on the day of the test.
