About your teacher

Mrs. Julie Lamy

My name is Julie Lamy.  I have been teaching for eleven and a half years.  When I first came to Visitation of Our Lady School in January 1998, I spent some time substituting in various grade levels. I began my journey in 5th Grade teaching Math, Language Arts, and Religion.  I then moved to 8th grade and spent 6 years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math.

I am excited about the changes for the 2009- 2010 school year.  This year I will continue to share my love of math with the 6th graders, but will also have the honor of teaching 5th grade language arts as well.  I am eager to help with the challenges and anxieties often experienced by students entering the middle school program.

I graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in December of 1997.  I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  In May 1997, I was initiated as a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education.  As a teacher I am always continuing my education.  Some of the workshops I have attended such as, Intech- Working on the Work: Web 2.0, Mathematical Tasks as a Foundation for Instruction (McREL), Project Wet, and Project Learning Tree, have helped prepare me for the challenges of teaching.

Working with middle school students has been a very rewarding experience for me.  I enjoy the challenges of teaching  and am happy to have found a home in middle school.  I love the ideas and enthusiasm that students contribute to the learning process.  I believe that children are a gift from God and I am honored to be able to share in that gift.
