I teach physical education here at VOL. I've been teaching P.E.
for 28 years but this is my third year at VOL. I've taught at
St. Andrew school in Algiers, St. Rita School in Harahann and St. James
School in Torrance, CA. I have a BS from Nicholls State University with a major in physical education and a minor is social studies education. My hobbies inculde dancing to Cajun/Zydeco music and playing golf. PHYSICAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 school year. Please be prepared for participation in Physical Education class on the days you are scheduled for P. E. P.E. PROGRAM The program can be divided into two major areas: 1. physical education skill development. 2. Social skills and responsible behavior development.

Pre -K - 2 Development of
locomotor and non-locomotor skills, simple games , and rhythmic
activities.
3 - 4 Development of simple sport skills, low organized games, and rhythmic activities. 5 - 6 Development of sport skills and lead up games to team sports and rhythmic activities. 7 - 8 Development of sports skills for
team sports.
GRADESThe students are expected to exhibit effort and a positive attitude about participation in physical activities . Along with cooperation with classmates. Above Average, Average and Below Average grades are based on how students perform in these areas. We will adhere to our school wide Discipline and Supply/Procedure policies regarding behavior and dressing out. UNIFORM CHANGING POLICY P. E. uniform must be worn under your regulation school uniform. Students must bring tennis shoes to school in a gym bag. Students will change into P. E. uniforms and tennis shoes at the beginning of class. All students dress in the classroom. EXCUSED A note from a parent must be given to the P.E. teacher if a student cannot participate in P.E. on his/her assigned day. Also, if a student has a medical condition, he/she must present a doctor's note stating the restrictions and how long the student will not be able to participate in activities. Also, if a student MUST be out of their P. E. uniform for some reason, a written note should be sent explaining the problem. If a note is not sent, your child is subject to disciplinary action.
