This week in Language Arts, we reviewed the long and short sounds for the letter Ii.  We listened for the /i/ at the beginning and in the middle of words.  We reviewed the high-frequency words, he and for.  The children listened to the story, Whose Garden Is It?  We reviewed predicting, realism/fantasy, plot, recall/retell, sequencing and adjectives.  The amazing words discussed in this story were garden, gardener, meadow, nest, plant, seed, soil, and blossoms.  The children read the stories, Sam, Sit!, Tim’s Garden, and Tim and Sam.

In Math we practiced skip counting by 2’s and 5’s; counting, reading, writing and comparing numbers through 31; and estimation.

In Religion we discussed Chapter 12, We Learn About God With Our Friends.  The children are learning that friends help one another.  We are learning that we need to extend our friendship into the community.  We helped to fill boxes of food for the needy of our parish so that they may have a Thanksgiving meal with their families.  We would like to thank you for your generous donation of food.

We would like to thank everyone for their help making and eating the Stone Soup.  The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Jeanne, Caroline, and Jill
