My Philosophy

I am aware that in this country we have the right to an education. I believe that it is more of a blessing and a privilege. A right implies that it is something that must be given to everyone, and given equally.  But I am painfully aware that this is not always the case.  In other parts of the world, educational opportunities can be intermittent, and are often undertaken in perilous circumstances.  Within our own borders, the quality of education varies from school to school, and even classroom to classroom.  I plan to be part of a classroom that will help each child to grow and succeed.

I feel honored to have the opportunity to touch the lives of so many children.  I look at each child as a gift that has been given to me.  I am thankful my gift.  I appreciate my gift.  I always value my gift.  I would never say that my gift is not good enough.  Also, I keep in mind that this is a gift that must be returned daily.  Through my efforts and the grace of God, I endeavor at the end of the day to give back your child enhanced with knowledge gained from our time together.

As a parent, I am thrilled to receive my three gifts, Ian, Rose and Quinn, when the school day is over, hearing their excited voices rushing to tell me their favorite part of school that day.  As I assist them with their home studies, I realize that I, as a parent, am an integral part of their education and growth.  The student cannot do it alone.  The teacher cannot do it alone.  The parent cannot do it alone.  It is our wonderful collaboration that will ensure the success of the student.

I promise to strive each day to enlighten the minds of the children entrusted to me, to empower them with the necessary tools, and to impart the confidence required for each child to become a successful student.
