I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans in 1991, where I studied Education and Psychology. I joined the VOL family in 2006. This is my fourth year as a first grade teacher.

I have been married to Alex Doskey since May of 1995. We have three children who all attend VOL: Ian, Rose and Quinn. We share our home with three cats: Selena, BuzzBuzz (AKA Fat Boy) and Spike.  We also have two mice:  Cookie Dough and Speckles.

My entire family is active with Cub Scout Pack 395. My husband, Alex, is the Tiger Cub Den Leader, and is always looking for new potential Cub Scouts. We enjoy camping with the scouts, and participating in many excursions around New Orleans. We enjoy taking family vacations to Walt Disney World, and to explore the natural wonders of our country, too!

One of my favorite hobbies is reading. I read books whenever I can find the time, and love to share this interest with others. The love of reading is one of the best gifts we can give our children.

My goal for this school year is to challenge my students to become better learners and writers.  I will incorporate a variety of learning styles into my lesson to enhance the retention of my students.  Music, songs, and movement will be part of this approach.  I will encourage the students to develop their creative writing skills on a daily basis with varied topics and prompts.
