Welcome to my web page. My name is Jennifer Anderson, and this is my second year teaching at Visitation of Our Lady School. I am a life long resident of Marrero and Visitation parish. I fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a teacher at the University of New Orleans. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 2000. I also received my teaching certification from the Louisiana State Department of Education.
I began my teaching career in third grade as a teacher for Jefferson Parish Public Schools. I then taught second grade for four years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. My husband, David, and I have three beautiful boys. They will all be attending Visitation this year. Nathan is in first , Evan is in Pre-K4, and Logan is in Pre-K3. I am excited to begin another year at Visitation.
It is my belief that all children have the ability to learn but in different ways. As a teacher it is my responsibility to accommodate those differences. My students will be given opportunities to discover and learn things for themselves. I hope to provide a child-centered classroom where cooperative learning is encouraged.
My goal for my third graders this year is to incorporate writing in all content areas. In addition, the students will be writing a "newspaper"every two months which will describe the highlights of their curriculum and experiences in third grade. This newspaper will provide excellent writing practice as well as inform parents about the wonderful things going on in the classroom.
I look forward to all of the wonderful experiences this year has to offer. It will be my pleasure to participate in the mental and spiritual growth of each of my third graders.
Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.
