This is my 8th year teaching middle school Language Arts at Visitation of Our Lady; my specific classes are both 8th grade Language Arts blocks and one block of 7th grade. I really enjoy teaching the two subjects which encompass Language Arts, English and Literature, because I apply creativity and personal writing skills to inspire students in my classes to surpass their personal expectations. I truly love teaching the young men and women which are in middle school that is why I receive my teaching certification in Secondary Language Arts education this classification qualifies me to teach grades 6th through 12th. My family life is just as enjoyable as my teaching life. I have been happily married for nineeen years, and I have two children a girl and a boy. Both of my children also attend Visitation of Our Lady. I also have three dogs which are a wonderful part of my family; the biggest and goofiest of the three is a black Labrador who's best talent is digging huge holes in my yard. My other two dogs are dachshunds; the oldest is eleven and he enjoys sleeping wrapped up in a towel. The baby of my family is a little solid black dachshund puppy named Cash. My family and I enjoy doing a lot of different things together. Two of our favorites are fishing and hunting. We also make it a point to attend church together each week and to eat supper together each night. Family time plays an important role in our life. My educational background consists of my middle school years spent here at Visitation of Our Lady back in the late 1970's, yes I did return to a place that I swore I would never return. In 1990 I received a Bachelors in Communications from the University of New Orleans, following my graduation I got married, and my husband and I moved to Texas for four years. While in Texas I returned to school, studied legal assisting, and received a Associates in Applied Science from DelMar College. For ten years I worked in the legal field as a legal assistant at personal injury and maritime law firms. It was an enjoyable line of work, but I felt the need to do something that would make a positive difference in the lives of the people I encountered. That call, once again, brought me back to the land of higher education at Our Lady of Holy Cross College where I obtained my secondary teacher certification. While I was attending Our Lady of Holy Cross I began working here at Visitation of Our Lady as the 8th grade Language Arts teacher. |
