The Church began on Pentecost.

The Church is all the people who believe in Jesus and follow his teachings.

The Holy Spirit came to Jesus' followers on Pentecost.

Peter and the other apostles told people about Jesus.

About three thousand people became followers of Jesus.

The first members of the Church did many things together:

• talked about Jesus' teachings

• learned ways to follow Jesus

• shared their money and things

• ate meals

• praised God

The Holy Spirit helps the Church to grow.

The Holy Spirit is always with the Church. We are members of the Church.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, we:

• pray

• share with others

• care for the poor or sick

• show respect for all people

• learn more about Jesus
