First Grade

Homework

 
**Parents: You child will continue read the entire reading comprehension test ON THEIR OWN.**
Please practice this skill with your child so they will not be anxious when reading it on their own.
You may use the tests from the 1st quarter to assist your child in reading the types of questions found on our reading tests.

-Spelling and phonics workbook page 45

-Math workbook page 51 and Study the 8 Addition Facts

Tuesday

 

-Read decodable reader 24:  Bandit ; sign and return

-Spelling and phonics workbook page 46

-Math workbook page 52 and Study the 8 Addition Facts for the timed Math Fact quiz tomorrow!

- Study Religion Chapter 13

Wednesday        

Miss Lauren’s class will be featured as the petite choir during Mass today.  Please sit behind for your child’s class.   

-Read Honey Bees in big reader pages 140-157

-Spelling and phonics workbook page 47 and Study for the Practice Spelling test tomorrow!

- Math workbook page 53 and Study the 9 Addition Facts,

- Study Religion Chapter 13

Thursday

 

-Review Honey Bees and HF words: test tomorrow!

-Sign and return the Practice Spelling test; write missed words 3 times each; Spelling test tomorrow!

-Math workbook page 54 (the Chapter 11 test will be next week) and Study the 9 Addition Facts,

Words should be studied every night!

Parent Notes:

-It is very important to review the class work that comes home with your child daily and go over any corrections. 

 

When you get your child’s test folder, make sure to go over all tests (especially Reading since the students read that one on their own) and review any missed questions. 

 

High Frequency (HF) words cannot be sounded out, they must be memorized.  They are tested every week on the Reading Comprehension test.

Guidelines for Home Learning Assignments 

Students will be expected to:

1. Complete all assignments in full

2. Complete the assignments neatly and to the best of their ability

3. Turn in all assignments on time

4. Make up any missed class and home learning assignments

 

Parents and Guardians will be expected to:

1. Prepare a suitable work space for your children

2. Read and clarify the directions of the assignment

3. Be available to guide the children and review the assignments upon its completion

4. Allow the children to draw and color their own illustrations for assignments with an artistic component

 

If, for any reason, your child cannot perform the given task on time, please make arrangements with the teacher as soon as possible.  Students will have points deducted from their quarterly Homework test grade for missing or late assignments.   

There will be at least one special project each quarter.  This type of project will count as one test grade.  Projects will lose a letter grade for each day late.  Projects not turned in will receive a grade of “0”.
