For All the Good Little Fishes!
"I am not interested in the past. I am interested in the future, for that is where I expect to spend the rest of my life"
Charles F. Kettering
All children can learn. We know that. We just have to remember to get the children to find their way of learning. That is probably the most important task for me as your child's teacher. With the children's talents and gifts we will have successful stories all year long! We will continue to try our best to use the talents given to us by God. And we will each become our own special person. There are lots of goals for us to keep in mind for second grade. Let's try to keep learning and make our classroom a great place for all. Let's keep the Golden Rule every day! Treat others as you would like to be treated. Now that's a goal we should have every day!
What's been going on in our classroom?
We have been doing lots of reading! Our book chart is getting very full!
We have made some special cards for Nicki Babin. He is in the military and we wanted to send him some special messages about how we are so thankful for what he is doing for our country. This was a great activity for Veteran's Day.
We made a robot! He stands about 2 feet tall. He is made from recycled classroom materials. We enjoyed making this during our center time. Lots of our vocabulary words were reviewed as we discussed the parts of our robot.
What else has been going on? Our students have been preparing to get ready for Lent. We will make Lenten promises and try to continue these promises throughout Lent. Our students are also ready for the Sacrament of Penance. They have been working very hard to think about the Ten Commandments and to learn their true meaning. Recently we had as special field trip in our Church. We learned about the parts of the mass and the many vessels used during the Sacrifice of the Mass. Deacon Jim was our intructor for this field trip. A special thank you for Deacon Jim!
Our field trip to the zoo was lots of fun! Monkey Hill and the Dinosaur Land were our two favorite places! Thanks for helping to make this trip fun!
We have been growing butterflies! We released our butterflies on Friday, April 17th. It seems they didn't want to leave their little safe place with us. They finally flew away! Yea! Our butterflies are free at last.
We have been practicing for our fair skit and taking our SAT tests! We are very proud of our second graders who have been working so hard on both of these things. Keep up the good work!
