Discipline Plan

Classroom Rules:
1. Listen and follow directions.
2. Raise your hand to speak.
3. Sit correctly in your desk.
4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
5. The Golden Rule - Treat others the way that you wish to be treated.

Consequences -
All children are given warnings when they are not following the classroom rules.  After a warning, if the behavior continues, they must put their number on the board.  This will result in five minutes taken away from their recess.  If they continue to misbehave, they would put a check mark on the board next to their number.  Each check mark results in an additional five minutes taken away from their recess.  A number and three checks in one day would result in a demerit for that day.  If a child receives three demerits in a nine week period, that child would serve an after school detention.

Rewards -
At the end of each day, if a student has followed all of the classroom rules, then they are given a sticker on their conduct chart, and a ticket.  At the end of the week any student who has five tickets may shop for a prize in our treasure chest!  In addition, any student who has no marks on their conduct chart at the end of the week will receive a Hero Buck to spend at the VOL Spirit Store at the end of each nine week period.

Parents can easily monitor their child's conduct in class!
Each student has a conduct chart in their homework folder, that stays in the folder all week long.  At the end of each school day, the teacher will mark their folder so that you can monitor their behavior throughout the week.  A student who has followed all of the classroom rules will receive a sticker on their chart for that day.  If a student got their number on the board and then a check, the teacher will record a number sign and a check next to that day.  At the end of the week the teacher determines their grade by counting the number of checks received for that week.  (Two number signs are equal to one check.)  The following chart shows how the conduct grade is determined:

Number of Checks
 1 or 2
 3
 4
 5
 6 or more
Conduct Grade
 A
 B
 C
 D
 U

The teacher records the grade on their chart on Friday, and it is sent home for you to sign over the weekend.  The old conduct charts are filed in the classroom, and a new one is placed in their folder every Monday.
